NIKE RUN CLUB LA

  • One day I was out in Santa Monica, CA and I saw a group of people all wearing Nike gear gathered around and I discovered they were a Nike Run Club.  I thought how cool is that!  I am trying to get in shape and I would love to be a part of a club like that.  So when I went on the website to get more information, CLICK HERE and found out they have these clubs all across the U.S. and when I tagged #NRC on #Instagram I saw people all over the world participating in this group.

I decided to sign up for a Saturday AM run.  I must admit I was nervous when I arrived on my first day because I'm extremely out of shape, but everyone made me feel welcomed and part of the team right away so that was great!  The first thing we did was break into groups, and everyone received a wristband and it marked the distance and pace you wanted to run.  I of-course picked the shortest run because I didn't want to pass out from exhaustion.  After the groups were formed everyone was assigned a pacer aka team captain in the group to encourage the team and to keep an eye out on everyone.  We had two Pacers in my group.  The great thing about this club is they provide complementary Food such as apples, oranges, and banana's and you also receive plenty of water to take with you on the run as well. Bonus!

Prior to the run we all do warm-ups and stretches to get prepared and then each group starts off running!  In the beginning I felt ready to go, and I was in the front of the line keeping up with everyone in the group but after about 5 minutes in I started falling behind, and after about 13 minutes the "Pacer" had to come to my rescue because I had slowed down from running to walking and I was totally out of breathe! LOL So to make a long story short they had to move on without my FAT A** LMAO but the good news is even though I didn't finish with my group I didn't give up!  The coach instructed me to take another path so I could still get a 3 mile run/walk in so that's what I did.

I feel good about going to the NRC meetup, and after I left I also went and worked out on the track as well.  So I definitely had a productive day, and I felt Greeeaaattttttt!!!!!!!

    GROUPIE LUV!

By: Maya D On: 11:40:00 AM

  • You have admired a Music Artist or Ball Player from afar... You keep up with their latest actions, and you respect his/her talents. You feel some kind of affection towards this person all though you have never met them face to face. The thought of them makes you smile, and feel all giddy inside when you see them come across your TV screen... These feelings are similar to Love, but how can you be in Love with someone who doesn’t even know you exist?? Could this be the beginning of a ... Groupie Luv!

In reality there is nothing wrong with having admiration for someone. It’s easy to look up to a public figure and feel some sort of attraction to them. Whether it’s because of their talents and gifts or because of the way they claim power and attention. After all who wants someone who is just sitting around not making moves? The people that are the most appealing often times are the ones who are action takers, and leaders. You look up to them because they have stepped up to the plate, and done things that other people have only dreamed to do. So why wouldn’t you feel some kind of attraction for them?

The Term Groupie is defined as---- "An ardent fan of a celebrity, someone who follows a group/artist around on tours. An admirer of a celebrity who attends as many of his or her public appearances as possible."

So how does this admiration turn into a Sexual Attraction? You start off as a fan “A devotee or enthusiast", and then the next thing you know you are being referred to as a Groupie which is a "Fan" to the tenth power. The feelings you develop go from being basic to sexual, and you start fantasizing about this unknown person in a romantic sense. Whenever you see them in an interview, or video you start to imagine how it would be to have them in your life for real, and you become intrigued to know about all the moves they make. Some people may say these feelings are crazy, and down right obsessive, but are they really? What’s wrong with wanting to know about someone you’re attracted to? I feel your admiration only becomes dangerous when you take an aggressive action toward your crush, and you do and say things that are out of your character in order to gain their affection or temporary love.

Having a "Groupie Luv" is perfectly safe in my opinion as long as you do not put yourself in harms way or degrade yourself or your body in order to get a temporary fix. Contrary to popular belief, I don’t believe all groupie luv involves an exchange of sexual favors. I feel you can look up to someone, follow their progress, be attracted to them and go on to build a plutonic relationship with them. After all aren’t Entertainers and Athletes normal people too? They Love, Cry, and get their Hearts Broken just like everyone else. So why do you have to be called names just because you admire someone, or because you fantasize about a person in a sexual way. Isn’t this a normal feeling? Why wouldn’t you have sexual thoughts for someone you find attractive? Whether they are in the lime light or not!

There are all types of Luvs, and I personally feel that nothing is wrong with "Groupie Luv" as long as that love doesn’t turn into a Dangerous Fatal Attraction. No matter what kind of situation you’re in, you have to keep your safety, and self respect as your first priority. If you’re of age, and you can wake up in the morning and be proud of what you did the night before then who’s to judge? You have to be happy and fulfilled with yourself, and be able to live with your actions, and choices in life. I feel "Love" is a beautiful thing, but you need to always have love and respect for yourself before you can have Love for anyone else. Keep in mind that Artist and Athletes again are just people. They are not Gods or Untouchable Creatures.

I feel it’s important to understand that most people who are currently in the lime light once had a “Groupie Luv” too! They have looked up to artist/entertainers on TV, and have been attracted to them, followed their progress, and had sexual thoughts about them. It’s completely normal, and innocent in nature to have a “Groupie Luv”, at least until you take aggressive action, and then it becomes something more.

    LIL WAYNE HAS A BLOG?

  • Ok, I'm deeply confused. Lil Wayne is now "writing" a blog for ESPN Sports? I thought Lil Wayne said he doesn’t read, and he doesn’t write music. I basically thought from his interviews with XXL that anything relating to literature or writing in general was out of the question for him. If you don’t like to read why would you start writing a blog? Maybe it’s just me, but I think Lil Wayne’s actions contradict his words. I know by now I shouldn’t be surprised by anything Weezy says or does, because half the time he’s sipping on that Sizzurp! LOL but I just had to say something about this because I felt disturbed! I invite you to check out the link below to LIL Wayne’s Blog for ESPN. I read the article for about two minutes and I got an overwhelming headache!

Every other sentence seemed to be jumbled together. It was as if I could hear Weezy slurring his words in every paragraph! LOL Well it’s clear that Wayne is getting plenty of press coverage for this new venture, and despite my personnel opinion I’m sure many of Lil Wayne's fans are backing him on this blog. I honestly enjoy Weezy’s music, however I don’t know if I want to read anymore of his blogs. I don’t find them as entertaining as his song lyrics. I think Wayne should have broadcasted his blogs for ESPN via video such as You Tube or another visual media instead. That is something I would have been interested in. Leave the writing alone especially since you don’t like to read. LOL Performing is what you do best, so why not be more visual with your words?

Seriously, if I tried to get up on stage to RAP I would sound like a fool! That’s why I stick to writing, and FYI I love to read. LOL I feel reading helps you to speak more fluently. Well that again is just my opinion. Honestly I just want to say Wayne’s style is crazy! And I mean that in a good way. He definitely has a unique flow that is unlike any other. Matter of fact one of my favorite songs out right now is, "Mrs. Officer" by Wayne. So please don’t mistake my words. I think Wayne is talented, however sometimes he confuses me during his interviews. I just don’t know how to take him sometimes.

On another note Wayne is also supposed to be staring in an upcoming movie with Bow Wow, and Forest Whitaker tentatively called "Patriots." The movie should be very interesting considering Wayne's personality. I will definitely be going to see this film. Forest Whitaker is an excellent actor, and Bow Wow is a cutie! LOL I wish Weezy much success in his new film. All Information about Wayne’s new movie was obtained from Billboard.com --"Patriots" is based on a true story about a high school basketball team whose players attend five different high schools until Hurricane Katrina leads them to come together and reach the state championships. The flick is directed by Tim Story, and it’s slated to be in theaters November 2008."

Clips from Lil Waynes interview with Datwon Thomas from XXL:
[Editor’s Note: Part one of this interview appears in the October 2008 issue of XXL.]

DT: What are you reading right now to help you…Wayne-I don’t read a damn thing. That’s why I don’t write music. I’m too cool to be reading and writing…I’m a very intelligent ni***. I can read like a motherfu***. I don’t want motherfu**** to think I’m illiterate.

DT: You’re in college so…Wayne-I don’t read, other than that sh**.

DT: But we talking about books for leisure.
Wayne-Nah, I’ve done that like once or twice. It’s just not my thing. I’m not into made-up stories.

DT: You know how people get together and they like, “Yo, you read…”Wayne-I’m not even in that conversation circle. That would be crazy, I can’t answer nothing so why would I sit there and talk? I ain’t read no books. I sit and watch ESPN all day. I can tell you what happened in sports. I do what floats my boat. If you trying to figure out where I get this talk, that’s me. I’m born with that. I don’t have no brothers, no sisters. My brother is 6-years-old. My dad ain’t never had one of those. And the one I called pops, he passed. My momma, she do her cooking thing. I’m an intelligent ni***,. I just refuse to be dumb.

Another Interview Clip with Brendan Frederick from XXL Magazine- December, 2007

BF: In the past couple of years, you’ve won over lots of fans and critics. Your popularity has skyrocketed. What’s your mind-set right now with Tha Carter III coming out?
Wayne- My mind-set is always the same. I’m never there. That’s the mind-set I stay with: You’re never there, until you’re there.

BF: Where is there? Do you mean the top?
Wayne- Who knows? Maybe the top isn’t where I need to be. But I just know one day I will be there. Wherever there should be. That’s what my mind frame is every day: working on getting there. You’re never there.
