HISTORY IN THE MAKING!

  • “I’M ASKING YOU TO BELIEVE. Not just in my ability to bring about change in Washington…I’m asking you to believe in yours.” President Barack Obama

He believed in us and we believed in him. On November 4, 2008 thousands of people went out and voted for change. We stood together at the polls in support for a better future for our children and our children’s children, and now a change has finally come! I am experiencing so many mixed emotions right now. History has been made, and I'm still in shock about it all! I am happy, but at the same time I’m worried. There is still so much hate and bitterness going on in the world, and I pray for President Barack Obama and his family. This man has put his life on the line to stand for what is right, and he needs a tremendous amount of support behind him to carry out his vision. Yes, "Change can happen," but in order for change to occur everyone needs to put forth the effort. We all need to come together and continue to fight for justice and equality in this country. I feel blessed to have seen this day, and I’m honored to have had a part in it.

The next step is to move forward and make Martin Luther King's Dream a reality. I know he would be proud right now, but will everyone continue to fight for freedom and change? This is not a one day victory. This should only be the beginning of great accomplishments. Barack Obama cannot carry the weight of the world alone. He is a very dedicated individual, but let’s understand things don’t happen over night. Change takes time! Instead of complaining about the issues in the world why not step up and do your part to help? What will you do to bring about change in this country? Before you criticize someone first look at yourself. What have you done to bring about a positive change in the world? Have you ever risked your life, and the life of your family to stand up for what is right? If you haven’t done any of the above you need to sit down and reevaluate your shallow logic. Let’s support the dream not only by voicing our opinions, but by cultivating it in our actions.

"We cannot walk alone. And as we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall always march ahead. We cannot turn back." MLK
